Golfers were treated to a spectacular stretch of Autumn weather, providing prime conditions for the midweek and Saturday’s competitions.

Tuesday 8th April

Terry Quigley (30) continued his run of form to secure second place, while Mark Bradshaw (19) finished closely behind with 35 points to claim third.

Among the four women who participated, Liz Tobin (26) led the way, earning the win with a strong total of 34 points.

Thursday 10th April

It was a picture-perfect Autumn Day for the midweek medal round, with not a cloud in sight and the kind of crisp, golden sunlight that makes for ideal golfing conditions. With no excuses to fall back on, players were tested purely on skill—and the results didn’t disappoint.

Laurie Mueck (7) emerged victorious, carding a stellar net 69 to claim the medal in style. Mueck’s consistent play saw him rise above a competitive A Grade field. Not far behind, Son Quach (9) and Stephen Becker (4) battled it out for the minor placings, both finishing with strong rounds of 71 net, securing second and third place respectively.

In B Grade, Andrew Patterson (22) continued his rich vein of form to take out top honours with a net 73. Greg Long (20) followed closely behind, just one stroke adrift on 74 net. Nudge Featonby (24), fresh off a Saturday win, showed no signs of slowing down, rounding out the top three with a commendable 75 net.

Saturday 12th April

The great conditions carried through to Saturday, where golfers were again met with sunshine for a stableford competition.

In the women’s division, Tristen (9) led the field with 36 points, just edging out Sue Green (33) who finished a point behind on 35. Sara Brearley (26) completed the podium with 32 points.

The men’s competition saw Phill Coleman (13) in fine form, amassing a stellar 41 points to claim victory. Sam Whitfield (+2) pushed hard with an excellent 40 points for second place, while Peter Dwan (11) secured third with 38 points.

In B Grade, Geoff Cutting (24) returned to the winners’ circle with 38 points. Chris Dunn (16) claimed second place on 37 points, while Gregory Alcock (22) earned third in a countback with 35 points.

Looking ahead, the club’s busy schedule continues. This Tuesday will feature another stableford competition, followed by a stableford and Super 6’s event on Thursday. Good Friday offers a special competition — a two-person Ambrose (own partners) — giving golfers a fun team challenge to kick off the long weekend. The week rounds out with another stableford competition on Saturday.

With the course in great shape and more fine weather forecast, it’s shaping up to be another fantastic week on the fairways.
